Top Summer 2017 Food Trends on Instagram

Summer may be coming to an end, but there’s still time to nail those Instagram-ready dishes. If you’ve ever wanted to make the picture perfect meal – there’s some things you could try.

Every year a huge number of creative foodies experiment with new looks and ways to frame their food. Thankfully, we’ve kept an eye on them and we reckon we’ve got the key visual trends down.

Bowl goals

From smoothies to nice cream, foodie bloggers are going bold and colourful with their bowls.

Nice cream is just frozen banana blended together – but don’t be afraid to chuck in extra fruit, such as dragonfruit, kiwi, or whatever you fancy. Foodies are also using blue spirulina to give their bowls a sky-coloured aesthetic.

Spread the word

The foodies of Instagram are taking toasties to the next level with brightly coloured spreads and plenty of fruit. These photos are being taken overhead, complete with beautiful ingredients. Once again, colour is key!

Throw some shapes

Stars, squares, circles, hearts. Foodies are cutting their food into all sorts of shapes to decorate meals. Or they’re taking a more minimalist approach, organising their ingredients into food art arrangements.

Be transparent

It’s not just about jars any more. It’s about what’s inside your smoothie or chia pot that counts. Foodies are taking full advantage of clear containers to show off their recipes. From fruit pressed against glass surfaces to different coloured layers of smoothie, this trend is all over our Instagram feeds.

As you know, trends come and go, so don’t expect these images to be so Insta-friendly in 2018. We’ll be keeping an eye out for what Autumn has to offer, so watch this space.
