We’re turning 90 this year; talk about a huge milestone. And anyone who knows us will tell you we throw one hell of a party. But this year is different. Instead, we’re letting the bubbles mature and will be celebrating in a way that is fitting, relevant and worthwhile.
Food & drink has been at the heart of our business for over 50 years and food poverty continues to be one of the biggest issues of our time. It’s right on our doorstep in London, with the economic disruption caused by Covid-19 hitting people already in a more vulnerable position the hardest. Life under lockdown has shown us not only how many families are already facing challenges, including food poverty, but how quickly many more may reach that stage when their day-to-day life is disrupted. We want to do our bit to help.
That’s why now is the right time for us to commemorate our 90th by teaming up with City Harvest London – a charity that supports people in our capital who would otherwise go without. By collecting surplus quality food from retailers, restaurants and brands, they can prepare and deliver meals within the London community to feed people facing food poverty. We will use our expertise to support this fantastic initiative and help spread their message far and wide.
Within our 90th year we’re making a pledge to provide them with 90,000 meals and to kickstart our partnership, we’ll all be doing our bit to fundraise – from chocolate and jewellery making to running 90 miles, and everything in between. Whatever our team makes through fundraising, we will match! Keep your eyes peeled on our social channels to follow our efforts as we do our bit to help get surplus food safely to the hungry.
Feel free to get involved via our Just Giving page, and help us make a difference.
